By Tushar [06-May-24] The National Park Authority recently announced the temporary suspension of tourism activities at Manas National Park, effective June 5 until further notice. This decision includes the closure of several most-opted attractions within the park, such as jeep safaris, elephant safaris, and river rafting. To initiate these measures sooner, elephant safaris and river rafting will cease operations from May 20.
The notice issued by the authorities of the Manas Tiger Reserve stated, "It is notified for general information and best interest of all concerned that Elephant Safari, Jeep Safari and River Rafting for visitors in Manas National Park & Tiger Reserve will remain closed for all ecotourism activities, as under, till further notice."
The directive is aimed at safeguarding the natural habitat and wildlife within the Manas National Park by temporarily suspending tourism activities. Authorities seek to bring a check on human interference and create a favourable environment for flora and fauna to flourish without disturbance. Recent incidents of rhinoceros charging at tourist vehicles further underscore the necessity of this above-mentioned action.
While the closure may disappoint tourists and locals, it emphasizes the importance of prioritizing environmental preservation and wildlife conservation. Visitors are requested by the authorities to adhere to the guidelines and work together with the implemented measures to preserve the ecological equilibrium of Manas National Park.
